FASHION: Sightseeing Mexico City

Keeping it low key while sightseeing in Mexico City during Labor Day weekend.

Location: Metropolitan Cathedral at the Plaza de la Constitucion (Central Square).

While exploring the city, we noticed tiny noses sticking out from under this gate. When I peeked down look who I saw! They were too cute. As a mother of the sweetest miniature dachshund ever I just had to show you.

FASHION: Meeting Diane von Furstenberg

As many of you know I am a huge fan of Diane von Furstenberg so meeting her at Bal Harbour Shops was BIG. Can I just tell you, she is even cooler than I thought. In interviews and ad campaigns she always touches on the importance of confidence. Here’s something she once said: “To be confident, makes you beautiful, makes you happy, makes you fulfilled.” Being in her presence she was nothing but effortlessly confident.

My favorite moment in meeting her – - she looks around the room and says in this amazed tone “so many dresses.” I then took a look around and saw girls of all ages wearing pieces from so many different past collections. That must be an incredible feeling seeing your creations on so many different women. In the famous words of DVF, “Feel like a woman, wear a dress!”

FASHION: Splurge vs Steal – The Cork Wedge.

I’m constantly being asked by friends if I’ve spotted any great designer look alike pieces when I’m personal shopping for my clients. Here is one that is in stores right now. Though it’s the small details that really make “Splurge” designer pieces special, depending on when you plan to use the piece could determine if you should go for the “Steal” alternative. I can totally envision dressing a client in this shoe for a resort weekend getaway with a great flowy short caftan. Could also be cute with shorts and a t-shirt for a fun Saturday beach bar hopping look.
